In 2023, England, male suicide rates were 17.2 per 100,000, compared to female suicide rate of 5.6 per 100,00. Additionally, the highest rate and biggest increase was in the Northwest. 

So, as a male Wiganer I felt an obligation to try and represent what a ‘Real Man’ looks like. A group image, solo standing and a Frankenstein’s monster inspired mixed body, all made from hand selected men from a range of different types of shapes, sizes, races, ages and abilities.

Outlined in dark grey colouring pencil, to capture the different line weights and then a digital block colouring that overlays the textures coming from the paper, original sketch lines and final darker outlines, celebrating imperfections.
